Linen Shirt
- Pattern: Fairfield Button-up Shirt by Thread Theory
- Fabric: thrifted 100% linen IKEA curtain

After my first Fairfield shirt I started another one. This time I thrifted the fabric: I got an IKEA linen curtain (DYTÅG?) for $6 from Value Village. There was about 1.4 × 1.8 m of usable fabric and it was just enough. I enjoyed working with linen – it feels nicer than cotton for a casual shirt.
My first shirt was based on the XS size, and it fit okay, but I definitely wouldn’t want it any smaller, so I decided to try S this time. I made the sleeves longer but left everything else as is. Overall I like this fit better. Next time I might try grading between XS and S for some pieces.
I realized I had made a mistake in the sleeve plackets of the first shirt: I double folded the inner column when it was supposed to be a single fold. That explains the trouble I had with it. However, I didn’t solve my problems with the cuffs and collar: I still had to hand sew the corners.
This project went a lot faster than the first one. I hope to eventually get skilled enough to finish a shirt in a couple days.
