Elation Sock

In my last Knit Picks order I got some colorful sock yarn, so I decided to make more socks. Hermione’s Everyday Socks uses the same cuff-down flap-and-gusset construction I’ve been doing for all my socks, but with this texture on the leg and instep:

4 3 2 1 4 3 2 1 p p

I decided to try a German twisted cast-on (a.k.a. Old Norwegian) for the first time instead of long tail cast-on I usually do. It’s very stretchy, and I really like the border of little rings it creates.

I did combination knitting (western knits, eastern purls) because it looked neater that way. Midway through I was regretting it because they seemed hard to get on. But it turned out fine! They stretched out after wearing them for a day (like all my handknit socks) and I now think the fit is perfect.
