Cadet Colors Sock

This was my second time using the replaceable sole method that I developed for Seventies Stripes Sock. This time I didn’t need to worry about stripes – but I didn’t realize how much the color gradually shifts in this yarn! You can really tell with the sock on the left. I don’t really mind, but next time I would break the yarn to continue from leg to instep without a jump. I think I can do it while still only needing to weave in four ends.

I made the feet of these socks slightly longer, and ended up with less than 4 g of yarn remaining! That’s the closest I’ve come to winning at yarn chicken. The other change I made is that for the 1×2 embossed rib, instead of using seed stitch in ever other “2” column, I used garter:

I like the look of it just as much if not better, and I found it much easier to knit mindlessly without making as many mistakes.
