Cadet Colors Sock

View on Ravelry

This was my second time using the replaceable sole method that I developed for Seventies Stripes Sock. This time I didn’t need to worry about stripes – but I didn’t realize how much the color gradually shifts in this yarn! You can really tell with the sock on the left. I don’t really mind, but I think I could avoid it if I did the instep first and then went back to do the heel flap and sole second. It would still only require weaving in 4 ends.

I made the feet of these socks slightly longer, and ended up with less than 4 g of yarn remaining! That’s the closest I’ve come to winning at yarn chicken. The other change I made is that for the 1×2 embossed rib, instead of using seed stitch in ever other “2” column, I used garter:

6 5 4 3 2 1 2 1

I like the look of it just as much if not better, and I found it much easier to knit mindlessly without making as many mistakes.
