Glynis Sock

View on Ravelry

I made these socks as a gift for a friend. I got the yarn from Knitty City, a nice little shop in the Upper West Side. It was my second time doing lace socks, and like my first time, I chose a pattern from Sock Innovation by Cookie A. I really like the intricate, bumpy texture of zigzags it creates. The pattern is essentially this chart reflected horizontally on the kfbf and translated 6 stitches to the right for the next four rounds:

6 5 4 3 2 1 4 3 2 1

It took a long time to finish because I was trying too many new things at once. I wanted to try Continental style, but I also used a smaller needle size than usual, and I didn’t account for the decrease-heavy pattern making the fabric less stretchy. After a couple attempts I gave up and restarted with my usual English flicking style on 2.75 mm needles. I ended up doing the Continental experiment on plain stockinette socks for myself instead.
