Mid Century Sock

View on Ravelry

For this project I used the same yarn and pattern as my Mexicala Sock, but I did it all Continental style (picking). Normally I knit English style (flicking with my index finger, not throwing), but I want to become an ambidextrous knitter. It will be useful for doing colorwork, or just for any stitch pattern that lends itself to Continental more than English. I’m still slower knitting this way, but I got a lot faster by the end of the project.

The other difference was that I used 2.25 mm needles instead of 2.75 mm, without changing the pattern (64 sts). I thought this would compenstate for my looser Continental knitting. This was true at the start, but I ended up knitting more tightly towards the end. Like with my Elation Sock, these are a bit hard to get on at first, but after wearing them for a few hours they stretch out to a very nice snug fit and become easy to slip on and off.
