Energy & Reaction Rates
In this unit, you’ll learn about how energy is transferred during chemical reactions (thermochemistry) and how fast that happens (reaction rate). Here are a few terms that you should be familiar with:
- chemistry
- the study of matter and its transformations
- thermochemistry
- the study of energy changes that accompany physical or chemical transformations
- thermal energy
- a form of kinetic energy that results from the motion of the molecules possessed by an object
- chemical system
- a set of reactants and products under study, usually represented by a chemical equation
